Account and Data Deletion
Two routes. Delete account in the account panel on this site, which works. Or email hello@mybeershelf.com from the address on the account, with Delete my account in the subject line, and we do it by hand and write back when it is done. The app does not have a button yet. No sign-in needed to read this page.
1. The button on this site works
There is a Delete account button in the account panel here. It tells the shared deletion function that it is being called from My Beer Shelf, the function has a My Beer Shelf branch, and that branch removes your tastings and then your beers, and nothing belonging to any other shelf app.
An earlier version of this page said the opposite: that the shared service had no branch for beer, refused the call and deleted nothing. That was true when it was written and stopped being true shortly afterwards. The page promised to say so when it was fixed. It is fixed, and this page is late.
The app is a different story, and not for the same reason. It is in internal TestFlight and it has no Delete account button on any screen, so there is nothing there to press. It is not that the app tries and fails. Use the button here, or email us.
2. Asking a person instead
Write to hello@mybeershelf.com from the address the account uses. That is how we know the request is yours. If you cannot, say so and we will find another way to check before we erase anything. This is the route to use if you have lost access to the account you want gone.
We answer within 30 days, the GDPR limit. In practice it is one person reading the mail.
3. What is deleted
- Your shelf: every beer you have recorded, with its brewery, style, strength, size, vintage, quantity, condition, care notes and the date you added it.
- Your tastings: what you drank, when, how you rated it, and the flavour notes and comments you wrote.
- The notification records for this app: the device token used to send you a push, and the notifications sent.
- The account itself: your email address, the name you gave if you gave one, and the account identifier. See section 4, which is where this gets conditional.
There are no photographs on that list because there are none to delete. The app has no way to upload one and there is no file storage for beer at all. An earlier version of this page listed them.
It is permanent. There is no recovery window and nothing we can restore from. Deleted rows can sit in our database provider’s routine backups until those age out, and we are not going to quote a number for that, because it is our provider’s schedule rather than ours.
The public beer catalogue is not touched. Those rows describe Systembolaget's products, not you.
4. The login is shared
Your sign-in is the ShelfHub account, one login across My Bar Shelf, My Whiskey Shelf, My Wine Shelf, My Beer Shelf, My Cigar Shelf, My Coffee Shelf and My Supply Shelf. Deleting your beer records always erases everything in section 3. The login is a separate question. If you also use another shelf app, removing it would destroy that account too, so we leave the login in place and erase the beer data only.
Want the login gone as well? Say so in the same email and we will remove it.
5. Ask for a copy first, if you want one
There is no export button. Ask in the same email and we will put the file together by hand. Deletion is permanent, so ask before, not after.
6. What is left afterwards
Saying “nothing” would be easier and it would not be true.
- Crash reports. The app sends crashes and errors to Sentry, on its German service, and the deletion does not touch Sentry. We never attach an account to a report, but the library keeps a trail of the network requests leading up to a fault and some of those carry your account identifier, so we will not claim a report holds nothing about you. Tell us roughly when a crash happened and we will look for it.
- Usage events, if you turned analytics on in the app. They sit with Mixpanel on its EU service, keyed to your account identifier, and the deletion does not touch Mixpanel. Ask and we will have them removed.
- Your subscriber record at RevenueCat. The app asks RevenueCat on launch whether your account holds a subscription, so a record exists there even if you never bought anything. The deletion does not touch it. Ask and we will remove it.
- Barcode mappings. A barcode you scanned that matched a Systembolaget product stays in a pooled table so the next person gets an answer. That table does have a column for who contributed a row, and the app fills it with your account identifier. An earlier version of this page said it had no such column and that nothing about you was in it. That was wrong. The identifier comes off when your sign-in is deleted; if the sign-in is kept because another shelf app still holds your data, it stays on the row. Ask us and we will clear it by hand.
- Shared records, but only if the login is kept because another shelf app still holds your data: your analytics choice, which is the one row My Beer Shelf, My Bar Shelf, My Whiskey Shelf, My Wine Shelf and My Cigar Shelf all read and write; the log of notifications sent to you; and the barcode attribution above. If the login goes, all three go with it.
- Server request logs. Our host keeps the ordinary logs any web server keeps, on its own retention schedule. We do not read them to reconstruct a reader.
- The email you sent us, and our reply, as the record that we acted on it. That is the only thing on this list we keep on purpose.
Write to hello@mybeershelf.com and we will remove by hand whatever the button cannot reach.
Nothing on this website is for sale: no subscription, no in-app purchase, no paywall, and no purchase record from us. The app is a different matter, which is why RevenueCat is on the list above. Anything bought through the App Store or Google Play is billed by them and the receipt is theirs to keep. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel that in your store account settings.
7. What changed on this page
Updated 1 September 2026, alongside version 2.3 of the privacy policy. Section 4 said the sign-in was “one login across all the shelf apps” without naming any of them, and now names all seven. Section 6 called one of the surviving shared records “your analytics choice” without saying which apps read it; five do, and they are now named. The earlier revision of 1 September 2026 rewrote the pooled barcode entry and was not given a note of its own, which it should have been: it corrected the claim that the pooled table held nothing about you, and section 6 carries that correction.
8. If it does not happen
If you have asked and nothing has come back, write again to hello@mybeershelf.com. You can also complain to your national supervisory authority; in Sweden that is Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).
